It’s safe to say, the nature of applications has fundamentally changed. In the past, apps never left the data center. Now, they are widely distributed across several virtual servers, containers, and physical servers.

As a result of this, traditional perimeter security strategies are now ineffective. Why? Because apps and data need security that follows them everywhere.

In essence, yesterday’s security methods and technologies are no longer adequate. And, as new threats emerge by the minute, the task of keeping apps secure becomes even harder. If IT teams fail to bridge these common security gaps, attackers will exploit them. IT teams across industries must take a modern approach to securing their application infrastructure – starting today.

But not every security solution is created equal. A robust secure application infrastructure should architect security controls directly into the networks and endpoints where applications live. Rather than being bolted on, security should be built in, to enable protection that follows apps wherever they go.

An example of this is VMware NSX Data Center. Its Service-Defined Firewall, delivered via NSX and AppDefense, shrinks the application attack surface while providing consistent security – from data center, to cloud, to edge. It provides the tools IT teams need to reduce security risks and complexity.

In our new eBook, we take a look at organizations in different industries, from healthcare to financial services, that are using VMware solutions to reap significant benefits.
