We are seeing a dramatic shift in the way organizations approach digitalization. Whether it’s to become more nimble and innovative, unlock better ways of working with increased productivity, improve business models (driven by the opportunity to unlock greater revenue) or to deliver new customer experiences, companies have changed from tentative first steps to asking how quickly can it be done. Research from Dell Technologies bears this out – in 2015 innovating in agile ways and delivering unique and personalized experiences were reasons to embrace digital for respectively 9% and 11% of respondents. In 2016, those numbers had jumped to 28% and 26%.

At VMware, 2017 has been about the digital transformation agenda and how it delivers three key business outcomes: business agility and innovation, exceptional mobile experiences and the protection of brand and customer trust. Underpinning those are four core strategic IT priorities, without which change is not possible. From modernizing data centres to integrating public clouds, empowering digital workspaces and transforming security, we’ve been looking at how we support organizations to drive digitalization.

Our customers are seeing the benefits of digitalization, and looking for ways to accelerate their transformation. They’re realizing that not only is it a strategic imperative, but that they’re on the clock – whether it’s maintaining an edge against established competitors, or dealing with digital-native market entrants, there is only a finite amount of time left to transform before they run the risk of being left behind completely.

So how do organizations change fast? I’m wase talking about exactly that at Fujitsu Forum 2017, at a breakout session on 9th November. I expanded on why businesses are going digital and why they need to accelerate their transformation, before looking at how the three outcomes detailed above can be achieved by focusing on the strategic IT priorities. I also talked about how VMware and Fujitsu are working together to help customers, building on the announcement of our extended global partnership earlier in the year.

If you’re looking at ways to speed up the way your operation is transforming, I urge you to find out how VMware and Fujitsu could help you seize the opportunities on offer in the digital era.
