In the run-up to the Fujitsu Forum 2017Joe Baguley, VP & CTO EMEA, VMware, discusses why it’s time to accelerate your digital transformation.

We are seeing a dramatic shift in the way organisations approach digitalisation. Whether it’s to become more nimble and innovative, unlock better ways of working with increased productivity, improve business models (driven by the opportunity to unlock greater revenue) or to deliver new customer experiences, companies have changed from tentative first steps to asking how quickly can it be done. Research from Dell Technologies bears this out – in 2015 innovating in agile ways and delivering unique and personalised experiences were reasons to embrace digital for respectively 9% and 11% of respondents. In 2016, those numbers had jumped to 28% and 26%.

At VMware, 2017 has been about the digital transformation agenda and how it delivers three key business outcomes: business agility and innovation, exceptional mobile experiences and the protection of brand and customer trust. Underpinning those are four core strategic IT priorities, without which change is not possible. From modernising data centres to integrating public clouds, empowering digital workspaces and transforming security, we’ve been looking at how we support organisations to drive digitalisation.

Our customers are seeing the benefits of digitalisation, and looking for ways to accelerate their transformation. They’re realising that not only is it a strategic imperative, but that they’re on the clock – whether it’s maintaining an edge against established competitors, or dealing with digital-native market entrants, there is only a finite amount of time left to transform before they run the risk of being left behind completely.

So how do organisations change fast? I’m going to be talking about exactly that at Fujitsu Forum 2017, at a breakout session on 9th November. I’ll be expanding on why businesses are going digital and why they need to accelerate their transformation, before looking at how the three outcomes detailed above can be achieved by focusing on the strategic IT priorities. I’ll also be talking about how VMware and Fujitsu are working together to help customers, building on the announcement of our extended global partnership earlier in the year.

If you’re looking at ways to speed up the way your operation is transforming, I urge you to come along and find out how VMware and Fujitsu could help you seize the opportunities on offer in the digital era.

Scalable cloud monitoring generates the granular insight to empower developers in the smart home sector

Ten years ago, the most common form of engagement we had with utilities companies was either the monthly bill or calling to report a fault. Neither promised to be particularly pleasant. With the advent of smart home apps, and the remote control of thermostats, lights and security cameras, that engagement has been transformed. And there […]

How EMEA businesses are transforming their security

For a long time, businesses were content at securing their IT infrastructure from the outside. The thought process was logical; much like a physical building, if you secure the perimeter, no one can get in. But security in physical buildings has since been ramped up; staff are often required to have a pass to get […]
