Next week, as we’re sure all our blog readers know, sees the start of our annual VMworld Europe conference. Twelve thousand of you will arrive in Barcelona to network and learn more on the emerging technologies shaping the workplaces of the future.
But there’s an extra element of excitement and buzz for us this year. Ever wanted to learn what the Fermi Paradox is, if there is extra-terrestrial life and get deep into the ongoing relationship between man and machine? These are but some of the topics that will be discussed by world-renowned physicist, Professor Brian Cox, OBE, who is introducing a VMware panel like no other.
Our expert panel made up of Sophie Hackford, AI entrepreneur, Kathryn Parsons, CEO of Decoded and Alex Champandard, creative.ai, will examine the big questions surrounding AI technology and the impact on our society. This panel will break down the negative perceptions surrounding AI and examine the power and opportunity that this technology brings.
We will also dive into the ‘ethics’ question and how AI can be used as a powerful tool for societal change. It’s not a question of the robots being ‘good’ or ‘evil’. They will only be ‘good’ or ‘evil’ based on us as human beings programming them. The control is still firmly in our hands. You’ll also learn a little more on how to break away from perceiving AI as ‘generalistic’ and its more specific, practical applications.
So what does this mean for you as a customer partner or business leader? The potential for enterprises to exploit AI is huge. We’ll look at the skills issue from a few angles and you’ll also learn what leaves you can take from the creative industries’ book when it comes to applying AI in every day processes.
AI is not some future-gazing concept. It is already here, positively impacting businesses, society and even advancing medical diagnosis. We hope this discussion will alleviate the concerns and negativity surrounding this technology and inspire you to understand the practical steps you can take to implement AI in your organisation, whilst also re-training staff to focus on more innovative tasks.
I’d challenge you not to be excited by aliens, space, bots and machines! It’s going to be highly fun, entertaining and our best panel yet. Please join us on Tuesday 6th November at 2pm CET in Hall 8, Room 42.
