Take another drive with Ian Jansen van Rensburg, Senior Systems Engineering Manager at VMware sub-Saharan Africa where he introduces us to the people, partners and technologies of VMware in the region.

Ian has been with VMware for 15 years and in this time, he says the only constant has been change. Positive change that has seen the business evolve into the leader and innovator for multi-cloud strategies and virtualization technologies, which includes the software-defined-data-centre (SDDC) and how a customer can stretch the SDDC into multi-cloud environments like our cloud provider programme and AWS.

Ian takes a drive with a member of his systems engineering team to VMware partner Strategix and discusses how technical skills remain a gap in the local market, and the importance of how channel-enablement can be used to close this gap.

They also touch on how a partner can help a customer to better understand the shelfware they have purchased, and demonstrate that the VMware stack they have, will more than likely already answer their business need without the client having to purchase a third-party solution.

Ian and Strategix also answer the question on the growth of hyperconverged infrastructure and how customers are using it to better navigate the delivery of services both on-premise and in the cloud.

“VMware keeps on innovating; we keep making technology exciting.” – Ian Jansen van Rensburg
