Swisscom is Switzerland’s leading telecoms and IT company providing cloud, Internet, TV and mobile services to residential and international businesses. It has built a reputation as a trusted companion to businesses in the digital world. Recently it has strengthened its cloud offering by launching the Enterprise Service Cloud.

“This cloud platform helps Swisscom differentiate our offerings, innovate and accelerate growth opportunities,” said Marco Hochstrasser. “As our customers embark on their journeys of digitization, a cloud is the prevailing solution they need and Swisscom wants to provide them the best cloud platform possible,” said Marco Hochstrasser, Head of Cloud Platform Development, Swisscom.

Hochstrasser continued to explain the benefits for customers: “With the Enterprise Service Cloud, IT departments have a new level of agility. IT can enable the organisation to disrupt with new business models and to take advantage of the next wave of technologies such as the Internet of Things or Artificial Intelligence without jeopardizing the regulation and compliance requirements they might have in various regions.  This will improve competitiveness and help them to differentiate through services that open new revenue opportunities.”

The Enterprise Service Cloud leverages VMware vRealize Suite to automate and simplify the performance, troubleshooting and capacity management of the cloud infrastructure. It also benefits from VMware NSX® and VMware vSphere® too, running on VxBlock and further hardware components from Dell EMC.

It has also given Swisscom a platform from which to innovate. “The network used to lie at the center of Swisscom’s innovation, but nowadays it’s the network and the cloud,” explained Egon Steinkasserer, Head of Innovation at Swisscom.  “Our cloud platform has transformed the way we launch new products and services, thanks to the agility it has given us.  While in the past we were able to deliver releases and new capabilities only on a quarterly basis, now we can do so in weeks, and soon it will be days.”

“It’s an incredible time for innovation, both for disruptions and for new opportunities that can help us to create a better future,” continued Steinkasserer. “Swisscom wants to remain the trusted partner of our customers.  We want to be the companion in their connected world, and VMware is helping us to deliver on this promise.”
