Building the cornerstone of digital transformation with trusted partners

VMware would not be where they are today without our partners. They are a critical link to the customer – as well as being our go-to-market, they are a vital source of feedback and guidance, helping shape our strategy, the services we provide and the products we build. It’s a cliché but our relationships with our partners are exactly that – a partnership.

We’ve had a strategic alliance with HPE for 18 years, just two less than our very existence, and in that time, we’ve worked together to overhaul how enterprises approach their IT. From the early days of virtualizing servers, to enabling customers in their digital transformation journey, our partnership with HPE has helped shape some of our most important solutions.

Take the work we have done together on VMware vSAN ReadyNode from Hewlett Packard Enterprise. It’s a microcosm of what we are trying to achieve – a best-in-class solution, that supports HPE to deliver what customers want – in this case, the software-defined data center, the cornerstone of digital transformation.

Why do we say that? Well, as the amount of data we create, and enterprises therefore need to be able to process, grows rapidly, the SDDC has the ability to handle these huge workloads. Offering lower total costs, better efficiency and higher productivity, the SDDC is the foundation on which digital transformation can be built.

So where does vSAN ReadyNode fit in? Well, to handle those workloads, you need storage that can flex in the way an SDDC can, without high costs or compromising security. As HPE says, it’s radically simple storage for the SDDC, bridging the gap between the options of reliable yet complex traditional storage or cloud, with its lack of control or flexibility.

It does this by combining vSAN, the hyper-converged, software-defined storage product working across VMware vSphere, with prescribed memory, networking, I/ O controller, hard disk drive (HDD), and solidstate drive (SSD). It all runs on an HPE ProLiant server, benefiting from its enhanced agility and security.

In short, it’s simple, secure, low cost, and high performance.

It couldn’t work without us or HPE – neither one of us could develop and deploy such a solution by ourselves. It’s the result of a long-term, mutually beneficial alliance between two like-minded organisations, constantly innovating and supporting each other. We get a leading product, customers get a solution that supports their business goals. All thanks to true partnership.
